This training oscilloscope demonstrates the deflection of an electron beam by electric and magnetic fields, illustrating the operating principles used in early television sets and classic laboratory oscilloscopes. It provides a detailed way to study and discuss the setup, features, and function of one of the earliest version of a cathode ray tube (CRT), also known as Braun tube.

Applications and Experiments: ..
The following topics can be explored using this neon-gas filled, partially evacuated electron tube:..
• Linear propagation of electrons in a field-free region
• Deflection of electron beams in an electric field
• Deflection of electron beams in a magnetic field
• Magnetic lens
• Phase shift, superposition of magnetic fields, Lissajous figures
• Determination of the specific charge of the electron
• Determination of the electron velocity

Product Information: ..
This didactically modified Braun tube is mounted on the electronic control unit via a connector base. The electronic control unit regulates the voltage supply. Its housing is equipped with a metal ring to which the deflection coils are attached. The connection diagram is printed on the housing of the electronic control unit.
The electron beam in this electron tube can be deflected by an electric field generated by deflector plates. The deflector plates are aligned parallel to the electron beam and integrated into the tube. The electron beam can also be deflected by a magnetic field generated by two external coils mounted on the metal ring.
A Wehnelt cylinder inside the tube focuses the electron beam. A gas filling of neon gas and a fluorescent screen allow the electron beam to be observed within the tube.
A continuously adjustable sawtooth generator, also connected to the deflector plates, can be used to analyze and visualize time-dependent processes.
