Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) – Third Edition
Course Introduction
The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Third Edition course prepares EMS clinicians and other prehospital practitioners to respond to and care for patients in civilian tactical and high-risk environments.
The updated course features current evidence-based guidelines, expanded hands-on training, patient simulations, and realistic tactical emergency scenarios designed to strengthen clinical skills and decision-making.
Course Description
With roots in evidence-based combat medicine, TECC applies proven trauma care principles to civilian tactical and high-risk environments. The course addresses patient care across the phases of tactical casualty care and prepares providers to operate during incidents such as active threats, mass-casualty events, and other hazardous situations.
What’s New in the Third Edition
The Third Edition places greater emphasis on practical application and real-world decision-making, including:
Shorter lessons with more time for hands-on skills and patient simulations
Updated evidence-based guidelines throughout the course
Real-world ASHE scenarios incorporated into every lesson
Triage instruction repositioned to better reflect real-world incident timing
Greater emphasis on casualty tracking and reunification
New content addressing psychological response to mass-casualty incidents and clinician mental health
A new tourniquet conversion skill station
An optional lesson on simple/finger thoracostomy
