A transmitter with a horn antenna radiates a narrow beam of linearly polarized electromagnetic waves with a wavelength of approx. 3 cm. The polarization direction can be adjusted by rotating the antenna around the propagation axis. To detect the waves, a receiver with a horn antenna and a microwave probe are provided. A control unit converts the received signal intensity into a proportional output voltage, which can be measured using a voltmeter. An acoustic signal can be added, with the volume proportional to the signal intensity.
