The free fall apparatus is the main component for measuring the time of fall of a steel ball at various, precisely adjustable heights of fall from 20 to 960 mm. Students can determine the gravitational constant g from the diagram of height of fall versus time of fall.
Product Information: ..
A support rod with a scale is mounted on a base plate with an integrated impact plate. Mounted on it is the height-adjustable start console with a release mechanism for the falling body (steel ball). Beneath the release mechanism are 3 contact pins that ensure an exact starting position for the steel ball. These contact pins, together with the ball’s conductive surface, form a switch that opens when the ball is released. The retaining tab has a micro-magnet at its tip that holds the ball in its starting position.
When the ball strikes the impact plate, the time measurement is stopped. The impact plate is designed so that the ball remains on the plate and does not fall to the floor.
Excellent reproducibility of the measurement results is ensured.
