Don't Miss a Beat: World Heart Day 2026
Every day, the heart beats around 100,000 times without asking for our attention. Because it works so quietly, the warning signs of heart disease are easy to overlook. World Heart Day, held every year on 29 September, is a global reminder to pay attention. It was established in 2000 by the World Heart Federation (WHF), together with the World Health Organization, to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and how to prevent it.
This year, the WHF continues its "Don't Miss a Beat" campaign, now in its second year. It focuses on symptoms of heart disease that can go unnoticed until it is too late. The need is urgent. Cardiovascular disease claims more than 20 million lives every year, and many of these deaths could be prevented. Still, too many symptoms are missed, dismissed or ignored.
The 2026 campaign asks everyone to do three things: see the signs, protect their hearts and demand action. Seeing the signs matters because many heart conditions cause no obvious symptoms in their early stages. Recognising warning signs and knowing when to seek medical advice can lead to earlier diagnosis and better outcomes. Protecting the heart matters because most cardiovascular diseases are linked to risk factors that can be prevented or managed. Small, consistent changes such as eating a balanced diet, staying active, avoiding tobacco and managing blood pressure can make a real difference over time.
Behind every one of these goals are the healthcare professionals who turn awareness into care. Spotting a subtle murmur during a routine check-up, reading an echocardiogram correctly or delivering the right shock at the right moment all depend on skills that take time and practice to master. If we want the world not to miss a beat, the people caring for our hearts need training that prepares them for every one.
How 3B Scientific Supports Heart Health Education
Protecting heart health takes more than awareness. It takes people who are ready to act when it matters, whether that means catching an abnormal heart sound in a child, explaining a diagnosis to a worried patient, or leading a team through a cardiac arrest. At 3B Scientific, we believe better cardiac care starts with better training. Our simulators, trainers and anatomical models help students and clinicians build these skills at every stage, from understanding how the heart works to diagnosing and managing the most critical cases. Here are some of the solutions that support cardiovascular education today.
SAM4 Auscultation Manikin
Many heart conditions first reveal themselves through sound. SAM4 is a fourth-generation, interactive half-body manikin that lets students practise auscultation with their own stethoscope. Its library includes 37 heart sounds and 9 heart-lung combinations, alongside lung, bowel and bruit sounds, so learners can hear the difference between a healthy heart and a pathological one.
PAT4 Pediatric Auscultation Manikin
Congenital and acquired heart conditions in children need to be recognised early. PAT4 simulates a child's anatomy with 15 accurate auscultation sites for heart, lung and bowel sounds. Optional built-in lights on the front and back highlight auscultation points, helping learners build confidence as they train.
SAM4 Online Auscultation Software
SAM4 Online brings auscultation training to any classroom, physical or digital. Educators can draw on over 100 auscultation sounds, each with descriptions, anatomical images and echocardiogram videos. Students learn to evaluate benign and pathological heart sounds, track their progress and study at their own pace.
Classic Human Heart Model
A clear understanding of cardiac anatomy is the foundation for everything else. This 2-part heart model has a detachable front wall that reveals the chambers and valves inside. Slightly smaller than life-size, it shows detailed anatomy throughout and comes with a stand. It also gives access to its digital twin on a smartphone, tablet or desktop through the 3B Smart Anatomy app.
MrTEEmothy® Expert Transesophageal Echocardiography Simulator
Transesophageal echocardiography is a key imaging tool, but it takes practice to master. MrTEEmothy Expert combines a phantom and a TEE probe connected to a dedicated laptop. It uses CT data from real patients with numerous pathologies, offers a biplane option, and includes a game-like module to practise the standard TEE views recommended by imaging guidelines. It is suitable for students, residents, cardiologists, anaesthetists and intensive care specialists who want to build skills without discomfort or risk to patients.
MrTEEmothy Expert Transthoracic Echocardiography Simulator (TTE)
Transthoracic echocardiography is often the first step in assessing the heart. The TTE simulator is part of the MrTEEmothy family, which covers TEE, TTE and ICE training. It combines anatomically accurate heart structures with realistic ultrasound images for authentic practice.
MrTEEmothy Synergy
Echocardiography is one of the most important tools for assessing the heart, and clinicians often need to be skilled in more than one approach. MrTEEmothy Synergy combines transesophageal (TEE) and transthoracic (TTE) echocardiography training in one simulator. Learners can build both skill sets on a single platform and see how the two views relate to the same heart. The MrTEEmothy family shares the same technology across its simulators and is known for anatomically accurate heart structures and realistic ultrasound images. This makes Synergy a versatile choice for institutions that want to train students, residents and specialists in both approaches.
REALITi 360 Simulation System
When a heart emergency happens, teams need to act fast and work together. REALITi 360 is a versatile simulation platform for resuscitation and intensive care training. It turns two iPads into a patient monitor and defibrillator, with optional branded screens such as Corpuls, Zoll, Philips, Schiller and Lifepak. Modules for CPR feedback and video debriefing can be added at any time, so learners can train CPR, defibrillation and pacing on screens that look and work like the devices they will use in practice.
Every Beat Counts
World Heart Day reminds us that heart disease often hides in plain sight. Knowing the signs, taking care of our hearts and pushing for action can save millions of lives, but none of this is possible without skilled, confident healthcare professionals. Every correctly identified murmur, every well-acquired echocardiogram view and every successful resuscitation starts with training. At 3B Scientific, we are committed to giving educators and clinicians the tools they need to learn, practise and improve, so that patients everywhere receive better cardiac care. This World Heart Day, we invite you to explore our cardiovascular training solutions and join us in making sure no one misses a beat.
