The NMR module is intended for use with the ESR-NMR control unit (item nos. 1022700 and 1022702) to investigate nuclear magnetic resonance in glycerin, polystyrene and Teflon®.
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is based on the energy absorption by substances exhibiting nuclear magnetism that are located in an external, static magnetic field. The energy is absorbed from a high-frequency alternating field applied perpendicular to the static magnetic field. If the frequency of the alternating field corresponds to the resonance frequency, the impedance of the transmitter coil loaded with the sample undergoes a resonant change, and a deflection can be observed on an oscilloscope.
The set consists of the factory-calibrated module with both coils, the NMR probe, the glycerin sample, the polystyrene sample, the Teflon® sample, and an empty reference sample.
A test report is supplied with each device. This report specifies the resonance frequency for glycerin and the field strength of the permanent magnetic field for the module.
