Experiment:
Free Fall

Voltage:

115V, 50/60 Hz
230V, 50/60 Hz

Objective: Determination of the gravitational acceleration ..

Applications and Experiments: ..
The following topics are covered:..
• Measurement of the time of fall t of a ball as a function of the distance h between the release mechanism and the impact plate.
• Point-by-point recording of the distance-time graph of a uniformly accelerated motion.
• Confirmation of the proportionality between fall distance and the square of the time of fall.
• Determination of the gravitational acceleration g.

Experiment Description: ..
In the experiment, a steel ball is suspended from a release mechanism. When the release mechanism is triggered and the free fall begins, the electronic time measurement starts simultaneously. After traveling a fall distance h, the ball falls onto an impact plate and stops the measurement of the time of fall t.
In free fall, the fall distance h is proportional to the square of the time of fall t. The gravitational acceleration g can be calculated from the proportionality factor.
