The Chladni plate can be used to clearly demonstrate and investigate fundamental phenomena of mechanical oscillations:
• Chladni figures make the vibrational modes and nodal lines of a plate directly visible.
• Standing waves and characteristic vibration patterns can be clearly demonstrated and investigated.
• A characteristic pattern is formed when the plate is excited at one of its natural frequencies 
⇒ resonance frequency
• The shape and dimensions of the plate, e.g., circular or square, influence the vibration patterns and natural frequencies.
• The experiment is suitable both for demonstrating mechanical oscillations in school instruction and for investigating vibrational modes in university laboratory courses.

Product Information:
This Chladni plate is a black-lacquered metal plate equipped with a 4 mm plug at its center, which is used to mount the plate on the vibration generator (item no.: 1000701). To produce Chladni figures, fine, dry sand is sprinkled onto the plate, and the plate is set into vibration using the vibration generator. By varying the vibration frequency, the resonance frequencies at which the vibration patterns are most pronounced can be determined. In this way, the natural frequencies of the metal plate can be determined.
