Applications and Experiments:_..

•	Introductory experiments on the operating principle of the apparatus
•	Electrostatics experiments
•	Measurement of the electric field strength of static fields
•	Capacitor experiments
•	Potential measurements with an electrometer

Product Information:_..

This measuring instrument is used for the static measurement of electric field strengths or voltages. Especially when used with the parallel-plate capacitor, the apparatus can be used as an electrostatic voltmeter.
Its main component is the electric field mill: a modulating chopper wheel of the same star shape, connected to ground, is mounted at a small distance in front of a star-shaped measuring electrode. The electric field causes electrostatic induction of charges, which generate an alternating current proportional to the field strength. This alternating current is converted via a synchronous rectifier and a low-pass filter into a bipolar DC voltage, without energy being extracted from the electric field in the time average.
The apparatus has overvoltage protection. A standard DC voltmeter can be used to display the measured values. The built-in FireWire socket enables connection of the data logger / interfaces VinciLab 2 (item no.: 1021477) or WiLab (item no.: 1022284).
